From San José Airport (SJO):


  • Shuttle Service: Shared or private shuttles are a popular option, it is cheaper to travel as a group or find some friendly solo travellers to share the expense! The drive takes about 3-4 hours and offers stunning views of the countryside.




  • Rental Car: For flexibility, rent a car. Keep in mind that the roads to Monteverde can be steep and bumpy-a 4x4 is recommended.


  • Bus: Budget travellers can take a public bus from San José to Monteverde. While economical, it can be time-consuming.
